Cleopas

Certain writers propose that the name Clopas mentioned in John 19:25 as "Mary of Clopas" is a Hellenized version of the purported Aramaic name "Qlopha" (קלופא), while Cleopas (Κλεόπας) is suggested to be a shortened form of Cleopatros, a Greek name meaning "glory of the father" (famously associated with Cleopatra in its feminine form). Catholic and Eastern Orthodox traditions merge Clopas, believed to be Saint Joseph's brother, with Cleopas. Some scholars also equate Clophas, Cleophas, and Alphaeus as the same individual.
