Saint Demiana and the 40 Virgins
In a land far away called Egypt, there lived a very special girl named Demiana. She lived with her dad, Mark, who was a leader in their town. Demiana's mom had passed away when she was small, so her dad took care of her all by himself. He taught her to be kind and to love God.
When Demiana turned 15, her dad thought about her future. He wanted her to marry someone important, like one of his friends. But Demiana had other plans. She wanted to live a life devoted to God, without getting married. She told her dad she wanted to live away from the town so she could focus on her faith.
Her dad understood and built her a big house in the countryside where she could live with her friends. It was a peaceful place where they could pray and learn more about God.
But things got tough for Christians like Demiana. The ruler of the land, Emperor Diocletian, didn't like Christians. He sent soldiers to capture Demiana because she taught people about Christianity.
When the soldiers came, Demiana was brave. She wouldn't stop believing in God, even when they threatened her. She said she would only worship one God, even if it meant she would lose her life.
The soldiers tried to hurt her, but Demiana stayed strong. She believed that God was watching over her. Sadly, Demiana and her friends were captured, and they were hurt badly because they wouldn't give up their faith.
After Demiana passed away, people remembered her bravery and love for God. They built churches to honor her, and many still visit those churches today to remember her.
Demiana's story teaches us to be brave and to stay true to what we believe in, even when things are hard. She is remembered as a hero of the Christian faith, and her story shows us the power of faith and love.
